By Gymnastik Star out of Kinnordy Gabriela / Graf Landau With enormous respect for a very special horse Astek Stud announces Gym Bello’s retirement at the age of 20 yrs. Astek purchased Gym Bello as a yearling. He had suffered a fracture to his hip and ribs prior to purchase so time and physiotherapy were needed to help him overcome his injuries enough to become a stud. From his first crop of 8 foals (all of which gained titles in various disciplines) he never looked back. Repeatedly producing offspring with trainability movement and lovely heads. Gym Bello himself has been an absolute pleasure to have, he is extremely fertile and was the most reliable horse to handle and serve. Often with very little time to spare on urgent requests for his semen he never once let us down. His progeny have achieved significantly in all disciplines gaining him the respect he deserves. We love to hear of his progeny’s achievements. Gym Bello now resides in retirement with Sophie Wilkinson and Katie Bird in Taupo. Katie’s skills as a bodyworker have already eased his pain. A horse tells us when its time to retire and although I know Gymmie would continue to do his duties despite his ageing body it was time to be fair on him and offer him rest and comfort for the rest of his life. We salute you Gym Bello for your wonderful contribution to the NZ sporthorse industry. |
