Astek has finally bred for themselves their very own ‘HORSE OF A LIFETIME’ in Astek Quatermaster. A top quality modern warmblood type with an air of noble presence about him that commands attention. His movement shows huge athleticism, elasticity and elevation including a "devine" canter, combined with the most kind, calm, intelligent temperament which makes him a true pleasure to work with.
Astek Quatermaster's sire Quaterback was the undoubted highlight of the German Stallion Parade as a 3 year old after his undisputed victory at the 2006 Bundeschampionate where he was described as "uphill, superbly engaged, elastic, stunning, unbelievable!" Quaterback's scores for the Bundeschampionat: Trot; 9.5, Canter: 10, Walk 7.5, Conformation: 9.5, Overall Impression: 9.5. Quaterback quickly became the talk of the town in Germany known as a "moving sensation."
Quaterback was not available as a frozen semen sire in NZ in 2009 so the search was on to find a high calibre mare in Australia worthy of this sire where limited amounts of Quaterback’s semen was available. Very fortunately Fleur Di Mimosa by Flemmingh out of a Weltmeyer mare came available for purchase. A gorgeous big mare with a fantastic pedigree with movement and temperament second to none.
The day of his birth saw and upstanding colt gracing the paddock and he has since fulfilled all expectations recently taking out the Champion Stallion award during the NZ Warmblood Ass Classification tour where Mr Gerd Kust was extremely impressed with both his paces and jumping ability.
With Quatermaster’s oldest progeny now rising two and showing all the fine attributes of their sire they have been purchased by some of the best hands in this country so its just a matter of time before their quality will be obvious for all to see.

Quaterback's grand-sire Quattro has the bloodlines of many superior jumpers tracing back to Galoubet, Alme and Furioso. This is also a line of superior movers with power and suspension. Quattro himself, excelled in dressage, yet showed much talent over fences, competing at international World Cup level showjumping with success.
The depth of pedigree of athletic, multi-talented individuals is clearly displayed in our young stallion Astek Quatermaster whose own athleticism and naturally elastic gaits show these same attributes. With his athleticism and temperament, we envisage him to be a serious stallion prospect for both quality Warmblood and Thoroughbred mares seeking overall quality, elasticity and suppleness of gaits including knee and hock action, and the super temperament and rideability his bloodlines are all so well known for.
