We place much importance on the selection of mares and our breeding programme involves selecting excellent temperaments, conformation, movement, jumping ability, bloodlines and performance ability to compliment our own stallions, or to suit proven or promising outside stallions.
We firmly believe that as breeders the easiest way for us to stand out and produce consistently top quality youngstock is by our focus on using high quality mares.

Mares and foals at Astek StudOur broodmare team incorporates both highly regarded international Warmblood bloodlines - strongly conformed types with great movement, excellent jumping ability and plenty of natural power, alongside New Zealand Thoroughbreds bloodlines that are reknown throughout the world for their classic type, sound conformation, versatility and stamina.

Astek mares are classified with various associations and studbooks to ensure quality is kept high, enabling us to produce naturally talented, purpose bred performance horses with potential for all disciplines.

MEET OUR GIRLS....

"Kinnordy Gabriela"
(left)
Breed: Hanoverian (Aus)
Born: 29th October 1996
Height: 16.3hh
Colour: Grey

Introducing the dam of our own Hanoverian sire Kinnordy Gym Bello!
Gabriela was bred by Holger Schmorl of Kinnordy Stud in Australia and, due to the quality of her progeny and the early success of Gym Bello as a sire, we jumped at the chance to purchase her when she became available for sale.
This mare has also produced the Australian stallion and successful dressage horse "Galanthus" by Gymnastik Star (Leesa Stephen) and NZ Level 4 Horse Of The Year Champion "Kinnordy Gallium" by Gymnastik Star (Julie Brougham, NZ).
Her dam, Smeralda, has produced other very successful horses including Kinnordy Galileo by Graf Landau (exciting showjumper under Clive Reed, SA) the mare Grimalda by Graf Landau (see mares details further down page), the dressage horse Kinnordy Guidditch by Gymnastik Star (Melanie Wyeth, Qld) and the highly talented and gorgeous Kinnordy Genista. This mare’s grand dam, Gold Song (imp), is one of the corner stones of Kinnordy Stud’s breeding programme and her first foal, Daley K, stallion by Daktylus, is one of Australia’s most successful Warmblood sires.

Gabriela is an excellent type with very good movement. When presented to German classifer Manfred Lopp for her Hanoverian Society assessment, she scored 8's for type, conformation and walk, with 9's for Swing & Elasticty Of Trot and General Impression.
She consistently produces enormous athleticism and elasticty in her progeny, as well as fantastic jumping technique and scope.
