Kinnordy Gym Bello at our Open Day in March 2006, 4 1/2
years old.
First
select crop of 10 foals were born in 2004.... and with each new foal
crop that arrives - what can we say but WOW!!
The proof of any stallion
is in the progeny he produces.
Gym Bello is proving to be a very consistent producer of high quality
foals with heaps of versatility for any discipline. His progeny are
all displaying excellent calm, intelligent, people orientated temperaments,
scopey elevated movement, leggy, athletic correct conformation with
extremely good natural toplines and upstanding necksets, plus beautiful
refined heads. We are thrilled with every one of his foals to date and
can't wait for more! Scroll down or
view his progeny now!
His
sire, Gymnastik Star (by Gluckspilz), is a magnificent type who
scored 123.23 in his performance test in Germany with 8's and 9's for
character and trainability, and, because of his breathtaking movement
and rideability combined with his huge jumping ability, was elevated
to Premium Stallion Class 1 Status with his results. He is now standing
at the well known Kinnordy Stud in Australia and producing extremely
attractive, scopey foals, with the same amazing eyecatching flowing
movement, superb temperaments, high trainability and the stunning good
looks of their sire, and who are already very competitive and winning
in dressage, showjumping, showhunter and showing classes. Commented
as "the most talked about sire in Australiasia", Gymnastik
Star is a very dominant sire and his talented young progeny are becoming
highly sought after by riders from all disciplines due to their superb
allround versatility.
Gym Bello's dam, Gabriela,
is a tall grey Hanoverian mare by the imported licensed and performance
tested Hanoverian sire Graf Landau. Graf Landau has powerful movement
and outstanding jumping technique, the sire of international performers
in Grand Prix showjumping and top level dressage, including: Australian
Grand Prix/World Cup showjumping representative and 2006/07 Australian
Showjumper Of The Year 'KS Genoa', 2005
Australian Hanoverian Advanced Horse of the Year "Remi Giselle",
exciting exported gelding
"Walk The Line" who has already had consecutive competition
wins eventing with William Fox Pitt (UK Leading event rider) and the
NZ 2004 Young Dressage Horse Supreme Champion 'Grunelius Legacy'. (see
below for more details.)
We believe the Graf Landau
influence adds terrific scope, athleticism and jumping ability to the
Gymnastik Star bloodline. This same pedigree cross is found in many
top performance horses across all disciplines.
Gabriela's dam, Smeralda,
is by the upstanding Thoroughbred stallion "Silky Baby" who
was approved and licensed with the Hanoverian Society and has produced
some extremely talented jumping horses, while also adding a refining
influence of TB blood. Smeralda is a half sister to well performed Grand
Prix showjumping sire 'Daly K' standing at stud in Australia.
Smeralda's dam 'Gold Song' is a beautiful German imported Hanoverian
mare by the famous Hanoverian sire 'Goldstern' who remains a well sought
after sire in the bloodlines of today.
Gym
Bello's dam Gabriela has a lovely settled, intelligent temperament and
shows very good natural cadence and suspension in her movement. Her
foals have all shown exceptional movement and wonderful temperaments
and have sold well in Australia to top buyers.
Gym Bello has two full
brothers now out competing in dressage! Galanthus (photo right), who
also stands at stud in Australia,
acheived second highest classification score during his ACE stallion
licensing and was titled "Queensland
State Preliminary Champion 2006" and "Queensland Dressage
Newcomer Of The Year 2006".
Now winning at Elementary level dressage 08/09.
His other full brother "Kinnordy Gallium" is an outstanding
moving grey gelding, imported to New Zealand and ridden by Julie Brougham,
earning Novice level wins and placings during his first season competing
in 2007/08! Gallium was recently crowned 6yo Young Horse Dressage Champion
at the NZ National Dressage Championships 2009.

Below: Kinnordy Gym Bello at our Open Day in March 2006, 4 1/2
years old.
Gym
Bello is continuing to mature into a classy young stallion. He has a
beautiful head and a wonderful kind, sociable, settled, playful, inquisitive
temperament; he is very willing and sensible, highly trainable and aims
to please, yet remains calm and settled at the same time - easily one
of the best natured horses we have ever come across! He has sporty,
short coupled conformation (often making him appear smaller than he
actually is - currently approx 16.2hh). He also has super movement with
an excellent stretchy purposeful walk, natural bounce, elevation and
easy moment of suspension in trot and a big bouncy uphill, ground covering
canter. In the limited
times we have free-jumped him, Gym Bello has shown the same scopey technique
as his talented relatives, with a free hind end and very keen attitude
towards jumping.... he heads for the jumping lane of his own accord
and just loves it!
Unfortunately
Gym Bello suffered a major accident as a yearling in which he fractured
his pelvis and broke three ribs. Having been purchased as a colt foal
for his stallion quality movement, temperament, pedigree and expected
performance ability, this was a devastating accident and put a large
question-mark on his future ability to ever perform under saddle. Luckily
for us, Gym Bello is recovering from this accident very well and, with
intensive therapy, is making a remarkable recovery. He is still extremely
athletic and, based upon his strong pedigree and stunning movement prior
to the accident, we expect his foals to be standouts!
Despite his
injury, we have had Gym Bello under saddle several times during the
past few years (when life has been a little less busy at the stud!).
He feels wonderful to ride and is very calm, willing, trainable and
co-operative... he thoroughly enjoys doing things, although we are very
restricted with what we can ask of him due to his old pelvic injuries
causing him some discomfort. Even so, it is very pleasing to know he
is extremely rideable and generous - important aspects which we are
finding are definatly coming through in his progeny.

Above: Kinnordy Gym Bello in April 2006, 4 1/2
years old.
The Hanoverian
"G" line, from which Gym Bello hails, has been extremely successful
worldwide in producing Olympic and Grand Prix performance horses, particularly
in the jumping disicplines. Gym
Bello's pedigree features 4 crosses of the reknowned sire Gotthard -
described as "...the best producer of showjumpers in the world
at his time...", and has 3 crosses of the very influential 'sire
of sires' Wendekreis, known for producing very correct and well balanced
offspring, also with great jumping ability. Other important sires close-up
in Gym Bello's pedigree include Genever, Ferdinand, Cor De La Bryere,
Calypso II, Domspatz and Goetz - all of them responsible for at least
one or more World Showjumping Champions!
While Gym Bello's pedigree holds tremendous jumping blood, this is often
considered a requirement in producing the necessary elevation and athleticism
for top level dressage performance, and his movement certainly shows
this.
We envisage his progeny to be very versatile and highly competitive
prospects in dressage, talented scopey showjumpers, perfect showhunter/equitation
types, while also easily being refined and athletic enough for eventing
(especially if crossed with a Thoroughbred mare - this cross is dominating
the international eventing scene).

Natasha (Trakehner mare by Falkensee). Exported to USA as a yearling
in September 2006 for future showhunter and equitation competition.

Kinnordy
Gym Bello first stood at private stud to limited approved select mares
in the 2003 season. His first crop of foals arrived in 2004, and
with each further crop that arrives.... what can we say but WOW!
From both Thoroughbred and Warmblood mares, he has produced very classy
foals without exception. He is proving to consistently produce high
calibre progeny with beautiful refined heads, scopey athletic correct
conformation with very well set on upstanding necksets and natural toplines,
an excellent big stretchy walk and elevated floaty movement, and fantastic
willing, calm, confident, intelligent, people orientated temperaments.
They are also proving to be extremely talented jumping propsects, showing
excellent technique and attitude for free jumping which is VERY exciting.
Example in photo at right is Astek Gazeni, 3 year old gelding by Gym
Bello out of a Thoroughbred mare.
Astek Gymahl, just turned 3 years old in January 2008, just
2 weeks under saddle at the time of this photo. Beautiful natural
carriage, elevated movement and willing, sensible, character
filled temperament! Sold to the North Island.

with her top quality paces, including an extremely balanced and
uphill canter, make her a true joy to work with.

Gym Bello's oldest progeny
officially turned 4 years old in August 2008. Most of his oldest progeny
have now been lightly backed and started under saddle both by Astek
Stud and outside breeders, where they have been proving their excellent
trainability and kind, accepting natures to learn quickly and progress
smoothly in early ridden work. We can expect to see more of Gym Bello's
progeny started under saddle this summer 2008 and seeing some of his
now 4 year olds making their competitive debuts before too long!
