Greg
Jamieson - Showjumping Clinics
Details: Greg Jamieson began specialising
in showjumping at a young age and his first major achievement was at
the age of 18 when he rode his own home produced 6 year old horse Chichester
to win the prestigious Bell Tea Grand Prix at the Horse Of The Year
show. Following this he won a string of Young Rider classes and Grand
Prix. At the age of 22 he represented New Zealand in Australia after
winning the 1986 NZ World Cup series where he qualified for the final
in Gothenberg, Sweden.
In the last few years, Greg has returned to competing full time, producing,
among others, the 2 outstanding "Ramirez" geldings "Hez
Zurich" and "Retrospect II", now performing up to Grand
Prix level.
Whether you and/or your horse are
just learning to jump though to advanced horses and riders, Greg's jumping
lessons are based on establishing confidence of both horse and rider
as they progress through the levels - covering everything from simple
poles and rider position to higher level jumping exercises. His
pupils all enjoy his relaxed, easy-going manner mixed with professional
advice and training ideas, making his lessons suitable for children
and adults through to serious competitors.

Steve Houston, based in South Canterbury, is an extremely popular
horseman and very well known for his talent at starting young horses
under saddle and achieving a calm, soft, sensible, thinking horse. Steve
travels regularly to the USA and Canada to further his skills and places
large emphasis on groundwork before flowing through to work under-saddle.
The knowledge and skills that can be learnt from Steve are invaluable
and can be applied to everyday working with horses, through to all competitive
disciplines.
You can visit Steve Houston's personal
website for more information on what he does and his direct contact

Our clinics with Steve
have all been thoroughly enjoyable and a great success for both participants
and spectators alike. We have seen Steve working with many different
horses, including basic groundwork with unhandled yearlings and problem
older horses, backing youngstock for the first time, assisting with
floating problems, and of course demonstrating his ridden ability and
seeing some of the clinic ridden groups progress into beautiful ridden
and in-hand lateral work by the last day. We
really look forward to all future clinics!
Lessons with Steve
Houston
Steve
is available to help with all aspects of riding and groundwork, for
young or mature horses. The 3 days will be properly structured once
we have feedback from what you, the participants, require at this time!
Steve can help with handling your young horses, floating problems, ridden
problems, as well as breaking in or starting horses under saddle, and
achieving softness, engagement and flexion for ridden horses working
towards any discipline.
Learn how to achieve responsive transitions, start leg yields, rein
back, pirouettes and more with softness and engagement!
It is often not until people come and see for themselves how these basic
principals can apply so beautifully into dressage and other disciplines
that they can see past the "rope halters and cowboy hats"
to realise the enormous benefits of learning some of these methods!
The clinics usually start
with ground work/floating/young horse handling and breaking-in in the
morning, follwed by one or two ridden groups. The ridden groups are
suitable for green horses through to more advanced. Rider attendance
is for the 3 days, and you are encouraged to stay and watch the other
work Steve does which will all lead on to what you do under saddle.
Spectators will also gain LOTS of valuable learning from watching!
We will have some limited time available for people to bring their young
or problem horses along for some one on one time with Steve to help
them gain maximum learning.
What To Bring: Bring a
rope halter and 12 foot lead rope (or similar) for ground work, plus
your usual saddle, bridle, helmet etc.
Full payment to be made
at the start of the clinic.
